nº 1 The Secret Garden of…

Isabel Delanghe

Tocoto Vintage meets Isabel Delanghe
(Teacher and blogger at M Word Mag with her children Jules 7 and Jeanne 5)
Tell us a little bit about yourself…
I am 33, we live near Brussels. I am a teacher during the day and in my free time I blog.

How many children do you have? Names and ages
Jules 7 and Jeanne 5

How do you start your day?
I get up, wake up my kids. While they get dressed I make them breakfast and after that we leave for school. I do prefer mornings in the weekend or holidays where we can take things a bit slower. Drink coffee while they play etc…

What is the most precious part of the day to you?
Bedtime, and not only because I want my kids to be quiet and I get to do things for myself, but for the talks we have when I put them to bed. We discuss our day and cuddle and kiss.

How do you balance work with family life?
I just do. Good planning is key and a husband that helps is such a blessing!

What values do you hope to instill in your children?
Honesty and kindness.

What do you look for in children’s clothes?
Children’s clothes have to be comfortable for them. A kid should play and run and their clothes need to allow that. We all love natural fabrics and synthetics are hard to find in their closets.

Do you remember having a favourite outfit as a child? What was it?
Oh yes, it was a white shirt with a huge collar and on the collar there were little bows attached. Very very 80s.

Tell us about your favourite little garden or hideaway
It is really close to our home. We just have to cross the street to get to it. It is a small community garden.

What are your children’s favourite toys?
Kapla, they both like it and they also love to play board games. Jules also loves his Nintendo, but we limit his play time to the weekend and only 1 hour/day.

What was your favourite toy or passtime as a child? Do you still have it?
I loved my dolls and barbies and yes, I have them still and Jeanne plays with them too.

What has surprised you most about motherhood?
The love. The unconditional love and also how two little people can make such a mess around the house!!! Haha.

What have you found to be the most challenging part of motherhood?
I do not have a lot of patience, I have to work on that on a daily base

And what has been the most rewarding?
When they look at you and tell you that you are the best mama.

Please choose your 3 favourite pieces from Tocotó’s new collection and gives us a few words about why you like each one.
I love the checked coat and cap, so so perfect for Jules. The little sheep collar just makes it a really cosy jacket.
The pink knit Jeanne is wearing on the pics. It is easy to combine and is truly sooooo soft.
The clogs, perfect for in and out the house. So soft and warm too and easy to put on.
